The West Coast Paintball Players League and ProPaintball.com are proud to unveil the layout for Event 1. We invite you to and your team to compete in the premier West Coast “Race-To” Regional paintball series, starting off with event 1 on February 25th-26th, 2012. For those unaware, the WCPPL features the premier format, match style play and regulation fields. During the off season we had a chance to catch up with League owners Jessica and Mike Hinman. Based on what we have heard and seen, this WCPPL season will be off the hook!

The West Coast Paintball Players League is known for professional reffing, tier 1 event management, and prize packages worth tens of thousands of dollars. To top it all off, the PSP has announced a partnership with the WCPPL to help expand competitive paintball on the regional level. Rumors are circulating that brand new scoreboards and a possible webcast are inline for 2012. Stay tuned!

Following on the heals of the 2011 WCPPL Cal Jam paintball event, the West Coast Paintball Players League has begun releasing details for the 2012 season. 2012 will mark the 4th season of the WCPPL and from the sounds of the announcement, Jessica and Mike Hinman continue to raise the bar. Here is a news alert sent out updating players and teams on the latest:

With 2012 fast approaching and people wondering what the word is I thought I would drop a line for next season. We at the WCPPL have been waiting to see if the two big boys would come to an agreement and unite paintball as we all would like to see. Now that the Vegas event is over and no deal has been reached it appears that it will be business as usual and we are excited to drop some info as to our plans.

2012 WCPPL Season News:

• Event 1 will be March 3rd and 4th!
• We will be expanding the field to 170′ by 120′.
• We will be eliminating the D side coaching.
• We are going to be working closer this year with the PSP to standardize our format and increase our sponsorship to our league and ultimately to the teams.

We as a feeder league to the PSP realize that a national quality event with regional pricing is our ultimate goal. The PSP has also offered its marketing machine to the WCPPL for us to use. And the talk of our finale being Web Cast has me super excited.

It is great to see the West Coast Paintball Players league begin to receive the recognition and respect that it deserves. In the final line, Mike mentions that the 2012 WCPPL Cal Jam event will potentially be webcast — definitely exciting news.

The internet is abuzz with players talking about their recent WCPPL Cal Jam experiences. In typical WCPPL fashion, league owners Jessica and Mike Hinman pulled out all of the stops to make sure paintball players had the best possible tournament experience. SoCal lived up to its reputation and gave another weekend of perfect paintball weather at Camp Pendleton Paintball Park. Everyone I ran into had a positive attitude and was really stoked to be playing paintball. I seriously could not have asked for a more perfect weekend and every grade of paint that was provided by WCPPL was on point. GI Sports Imperial paintballs shot like darts! Everyone is going to have their feelings about the reffing but if you really think about it, it’s not the easiest job in the world so we should cut them some slack. I appreciate the fact that the WCPPL referees were all experienced paintball players and knew the rules of the game. Not only did we get to see old friends we made new ones and can’t wait to see them next season. -Bert from the Cobras

The final match in the premier division featured Fuzion against Paintball Gateway. The match ran 3-3 and then went into overtime as the clock ran out. In the WCPPL, the first time to score a point wins the match. Check out this video provided by Almost Famous Media in which Fuzion with 2 players on the field (Feddy Cummins and an unknown Fuzion teammate) prepares to close the match up against Joel Buffington, the last player alive on Paintball Gateway.

Last week’s WCPPL paintball rumor report highlighted in on the roster additions for many of the WCPPL premier paintball teams. As a follow up to the news that Xavier Linn from Fuzion was MIA; our sources indicate that Xavier will be back with Fuzion for Cal Jam 2011.

San Diego Mob picks up Heath Hoeper. Heath took a few seasons off after playing pro with San Diego Aftermath in 2009.

Paintball Gateway picks up Danny Park who also played with San Diego Aftermath in 2009. Both Danny and Heath played together on Drama back in the day.

Fuzion’s Xavier Linn (dorrito player) is oddly missing in action. Alexander Borromeo and Nathan Schroeder from DBS are joining the team. In our recent interview with Mike Hinman, Xavier was singled out as a player that could easily compete on the pro level. No word yet as to why he is missing.

Poso Paintball.com has called it quits due to not enough dedicated players. The team owner was footing the bill for the team, including paint, entry, and gear and all he asked was for players to show up to practice. Free rides are few and far between these days and its really sad to see a dedicated team owner have to give up on his team due to players not appreciating how good the have it.

Davis Ambush picks up Jessie Lapid. He played with Sacramento XSV and San Francisco Explicit in 2009.

Lance Hardwick of Top Gun Union is playing with San Diego Pirates.

DIRECTIONS/Notes to this weekends event: Merge on 76E, Take the “College Blvd.” exit. Make a left on College Blvd, then a right on Vandegrift. Vandegrift will lead to the Camp Pendleton “San Luis Ray” Gate. From Highway 15: Merge on 76W, Take the “College Blvd.” exit. Make a right on College Blvd, then a right on Vandegrift. Vandegrift will lead to the Camp Pendleton “San Luis Ray” Gate. Once you are at the Camp Pendleton Gate: Tell the guard you are going to “The Paintball Park”. The guard will want to see your driver’s license, registration and car insurance. Once you are through the gate, go about 1 mile and you will see the paintball fields on your left. Make a left before the large MCCS Built-in Sign and follow the Paintball Signs to the Park.
