According to Pro Paintball insiders, Tippman Sports has purchased ANGEL Paintball Sports (APS). A few weeks ago we learned that APS had ceased operations. Jay from Angel Paintball Sports mentioned that a further update would be made available by APS office in the UK.

While some details about the transaction have yet to emerge, Tippmann is rumored to have acquired both the intellectual property surrounding the Angel markers and rights to the Angel Eye goggle system. Formerly vaporware, this oft-discussed but never delivered goggle system will hopefully make it to the market sometime next year; our insiders report that the mask experienced significant functionality and performance issues that rendered it incapable of passing ASTM testing.

The acquisition of Angel Paintball Sports / WDP marks yet another key pickup for Tippmann, following the recent purchase of NXe last year, and the attempted purchase of ProCaps LP just last week. Tippmann Sports itself is no stranger to the merits of corporate buyouts–having been purchased in 2004 by investment giant, Summit Partners.

The addition of yet another tournament brand to the Tipmmann stable (in addition to WAS/Wicked Air Sportz and NXe) spells an interesting future for Tippmann–are we seeing early indicators of an entry to the tournament market? Are high-end speedball markers in Tippmann’s future?

The Canadian Paintball Players League has released the field layout to the 2011 Canadian Triple Crown paintball event.

According to the league;

For 2011 the TRIPLE CROWN will offer more choice than ever before. Teams will choose from 5 Divisions, and 3 formats. 5Man, 7Man, and the popular X-Division formats, all offered at the same event. This has never been done before, by any league, or series. This is another groundbreaking move by the CPPL and its affiliate leagues, in its attempt to accommodate all paintball players, and all formats.

Space in the event is VERY limited. Please don’t miss out by waiting till the last minute. Some divisions will only have 6 spots available. Don’t wait!!!

Dates: June 11-12, 2011

Host Hotel: Your host hotel will once again be the waterfront Prestige INN. This is the nicest property in Salmon Arm and we will have a unique booking code soon that will get teams the best price and value for their accommodations.

Check out the official league website at www.CanadianTripleCrown.com.

The ProPaintball.com rumor squad is reporting sightings of a prototype Invert Mini at the recent Skirmish event, “Invasion of Normandy”. More specs and info after the jump.

While the development team at KEE Action Sports is decidedly tight lipped over the new project, our insider team is reporting having seen the gun in concealed form making the rounds at Skirmish’s “Invasion of Normandy” event. The newest revision of the wildly successful Invert Mini platform, this model is reported to have several new features and changes that the market has been clamoring for. The “Mini 2″ (as our staff is referring to it) supposedly sports a larger form factor (to allow easier use for longer armed players), an oft-requested onoff built into it’s bottomline regulator, and some revised internal features that allow for lower pressure operation and better efficiency.

With the Invert Mini having sold over 45,000 units (in various forms, including the popular “TM” series BT scenario guns), this new revision is sure to impress and sell thousands to the masses. Hopefully we get to see this new marker at the upcoming Paintball Extravaganza in September.

For those of you looking to make your invert mini fly we highly recommend you pick up a Tadao Invert Mini board.

Here is an old photo of the inner workings of the Invert Mini:
