Pro Paintball team Oakland BLAST has been the topic of many rumors lately. Back in Vegas word started getting around that the team would be restructuring for 2012. Over the Holidays we heared they were holding tryouts from one source, and disbanding from another.
Zack Long of Oakland BLAST set the record straight today with an official update;
So sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Oakland Blast will be taking the 2012 season off. Blast as a business is trying keep up with the overwhelming demand for their new guns and trying to roll out more new products in the near future. With that said the focus needed to be on the business, not the team.
Player movement thus far;
- Tyler Harmon, Neil Eberle, and Ryan Podesta to SF Explicit
- Zack Long- business and family
- Shane Howe- TBA
- Jason and Corey Bornstein-TBA
- Ryan Collette-MIA
- Francis Erguiza-TBA
Bob and his son Zack Long have been a long time professional paintball family and it is said to see them take a break. Where do you think the other players will end up?

It seems like Blast is a victim of the poor economy. Not sure I buy the whole demand for our guns thing. If their guns are in such high demand would’nt there be money and motivation to continue the team. What difference is one season going to make as oppsed to every year since the teams inception. I think the truth is paintball aint gettin any cheaper. And if anything I think a year off to recoup financial losses is more of a realistic truth. Anything else does’nt make any sense to me.

Dawson you also you also neglect to point out it is on of the only American made gun line let alone product lines in paintball. Focusing on building a strong business is good business

i think i saw more victories and g6r’s at nppl vegas than all the other guns combined. i was even surprised at the popularity compared to the huge names like dye and eclipse.

I agree with the “American Made” thing said above. Doesnt matter what my sponsor is at the time. I always buy and own BOB guns regardless. G6rs and Vics are simply amazing paintball guns.
