Oliver Lang & 2011. Past, Present & Future Possibilities.
November 4, 2010 in Rumor Reports
It goes without saying that Oliver Lang (website) is one of the top pro paintball players in the game. As many of you will recall, Ollie Lang, Alex Fraige, Ryan Greenspan and Yosh Rau started playing together in 1997. In 1999 the group went on to form Ironkids and later in 2001 became known as San Diego Dynasty. Oliver went PRO with the Ironmen in 2000 and left the team in 2001 to join his friends on DYNASTY. After a very successful run, most notably in 2002 and 2003 when Dynasty won the Triple Crown Championship (NPPL, PSP and Millenium Series), Oliver announced it was time for change. In 2006, Ollie was signed by the Ironmen for $100,000.00, which set the record for the highest salary paid to a pro paintball player. Throughout the next 4 years Ollie worked to rebuild the Ironmen. After picking up several big names such as Nicky Cuba, Mike Paxson, Billy Wing and John Richardson, the Ironmen went on to win several events. Oliver’s highlights with the Ironmen took place in 2007 and 2008 when the team won back to back PSP Championship Crowns.
Fast forward to November 2010; Oliver’s contract with DYE has run its course and Ollie is now a free agent. With that in mind, rumors have circulated that he may be on the move. At the NPPL DC Open where Ollie guested with DC Arsenal, Ollie was rumored to have said “I can’t wait to play with my friends again”. Dependent upon how you look at it, this line could be taken to suggest he would like to be playing with his friends and teammates on the Ironmen. Alternatively, Olivers statement could be interpreted is looking forward to playing with Ryan, Alex, Yosh and the rest of his friends on San Diego Dynasty.
On the other side of the coin, rumors have suggested that the relationship between Dave Youngblood, Oliver Lang and Dye Precision has been very successful. Ollie has been flying around the world spreading the DYE brand and demonstrating professional paintball in exhibition matches and developing markets. For those of you unaware, Dave Youngblood, owner of DYE Precision, is both a former pro player as well as the owner of the Los Angeles Ironmen. From what we gather, Dave is very competitive and would like to see Oliver Lang continue his professional career with the Ironmen.
What are your thoughts? Will Ollie return to DYNASTY? Or will the Ironmen resign Ollie for another 4 years? Sound off in the comments!

Ironmen havent had the best placings at their events the last 2 yrs, it would probably be a beneficial thing if Dye cut Ollie and instead focused their funding on younger, ‘future of the sport’ players like those on Damage which have had a fantastic season due to their support… my .02

I agree with this.

Dynasty again, please!

his contract has been extended

If he stays with the Men it won’t help them get over the “hump”. The Men need Wing and Paxson to help be the cornerstone of a new younger team. Those guys would teach the young players heart and grit. Now as for Dynasty he would help them more from a spiritual stand point. It might help to spark a flame under Alex and Yosh. Dynasty to needs to get younger. Oliver isn’t the absolute answer for either team.

I spoke with Ollie earlier today. At this time he has not reached a decision. He mentioned there being several offers on the table.
Maybe there is more than Ironmen and Dynasty in the mix?

Cut Ollie to Dynasty and tell Crunchy to come back
THE DUDE said on November 4, 2010
I wish he goes to dynasty… it would bring me back 4 years ago in paintball
THE DUDE said on November 4, 2010
plus its not like dynasty was playing bad at the end of the year (forget vegas haha) they did well at cup bringing damage into OT in the quarters isnt easy
spaghetti and meatballs said on November 4, 2010
this was dynasty’s worst year ever because half the team retired recently. justin is gone, johnny, angel, todd, bc…etc. as a team they had a descent year, but descent isnt good for dynasty. unless they are not in the top 3 they arent gonna be proud.

Don’t put up Olie’s website as a reference when it hasn’t been updated since 2008.

Really now?

Really!? You just gave Ollie credit for bringing “big names” such as Billy Wing to the Ironmen? GKY. Billy has been on the Ironmen longer than Ollie has been playing paintball.

Step 1: Change name
Step 2: Play d4x
Step 3: Make it big and get paid another 100,000 in 5 years
= Profit

Heads up – Ollie did not set the record for the highest paid paintball player. Lasoya in his glory days was bringing in more from his multiple ventures.
Also keep in mind – Ollie does not get paid to play paintball – as you said in the article, he promotes dye
The African said on November 5, 2010
Ollie im pretty sure got paid to play. Every sponsored player promotes there teams products. He is also employed through dye and has a desk job i believe.

He also owns a deli by the name of Rubicon!
Oliver said on November 8, 2010
I think he also makes bank from his Virtue deal too.
kush docta said on November 8, 2010
I think like 10 G’s a year from Virtue
Spyglass said on January 24, 2011
I find that highly unlikely…with the amount of money that Virtue actually profits from the board sales (after buying the materials, producing the board, paying the employees, taxes, bills, etc.) they definitely don’t make 10 grand more from Ollie than they would without him.
mark said on November 11, 2010
Its the economy stupid….no he wont be back or for much much less even though they might make it sound rossie, he has no real work skills.
Dylan said on November 15, 2010
Maybe move to another Dye team to help spread the brand. TBD anyone?
Jimmy Massey said on December 24, 2010
TBD!!!!!! Now that’s some good shit that’s what I would like to call good paintball….
Nate said on November 16, 2010
I think ollie should return to dynasty because he has his true friends on the team and there is only 3 original players ryan alex and yosh.
also dynasty should have another original player so please ollie go back to dynasty
Jon said on November 16, 2010
Ollie well go with what ever offer is the best for him and his future. So lets address his current situation Ollie is getting a fairly decent amount of money just from dye and he plays on multiple teams, if ollie does resign with dye it will be for most likely more money than what hes making now and also hell prob end up with a more desk type job in dye considering he runs his own resturant now. Dynasty the franchise dynasty does not making enough money it self to bring ollie from ironmen to dynasty, granted he friends are on dynasty but from a busniness stand point which ever deal between Dye and probably Plaent Eclipse cause thats the current sponsor of Dynasty and theyve been trying to get a planet eclipse sponsors ships will be the ones fighting it out for ollie. Now I would like to bring up the fact that this year ollie opened up his own resturant in which this may have been his last season playing pb proffesionaly he may retire and decide to go run his business.

What ever happens, next years season will be an interesting one, well for the start of it anyway.
