Friday Paintball News Roundup
November 6, 2009 in Featured, PSP, Rumor Reports
Paintball players and fans can relax, Pro Paintball dot Com is back from our break and ready to roll. In this weeks installment, we catch up with Rockstar Energy, share a bit of feedback from Nicky Cuba’s SavePaintball video, and shed some light on a few rumors making their rounds on the rumor mill.
Save Paintball?

Nicky’s SavePaintball interview and the subsequent question, “How are you an ambassador of paintball?”, seems to have stirred up the pot. Baca Loco over at View From the Deadbox has shared a few thoughts on the SavePaintball project. Meanwhile, Brandon Lambertson over at the Paintball Agenda is questioning the idea entirely, Who’s the amb”ASS”ador now?. While we don’t understand the finer points of the project, we do appreciate the concept. Save Paintball!
PSP Pro Rosters, 2010:
There is a bit of discussion on the rumor mill that the PSP is planning to expand the rosters to 1o players. While this isn’t a new rumor (I believe the announcer was discussing it at the USPL Vegas, of all places), it would be a move in the right direction. All season long pro teams were having issues with the roster cap and a great example of this was with Tampa Bay Damage at the PSP Phoenix Open where several players ended up playing with injuries. Having two full lines of players will enable the pro teams to swap out injured players and keep up the heat on their opponents.
Rockstar69, lots more paintball energy:
The pro paintball smack box has been rampant with rumors surrounding the Rockstar paintball team and the companies involvement in paintball. We recently caught up with Mike O’Malley, head of Paintball Sponsorships and Licensing for Rockstar69 Energy Drink, and got to the bottom of it. Mike dispelled all the rumors, telling us “Rockstar has doubled it’s participation, from four teams in ’08 to a total of 8 teams from all over the world in ’09, and is excited about the possibility of renewing with the ’09 teams in 2010 as well as expanding our licensing in 2010.” A big thanks goes out to Mike and Rockstar Energy for supporting paintball. Keep up the good work!
New Pro Team?
Credible rumors indicate that D-1 series champions Dynasty Entourage will be playing PRO 7-man in 2010 and Semi-Pro in the PSP. Without question, the team has been a powerhouse in divisional paintball and we anticipate that the team will be a force to be reckoned with in the PRO ranks. There has been a lot of talk regarding the gear the team uses to gain a competitive edge. Entourage uses only the best, NXe packs to carry their paint and Tadao Boards in their guns. Both companies are site sponsors and we urge you to patronize them with your business.

A lot of guys from Entourage played for Aftermath II this season. How is this going to affect both these teams now?

Dalton plays on both Vicious and Entourage. Which team will he stick with?
Well said on November 7, 2009
Dalton will try to get paid. Then when that doesn’t work he will stay with Vicious.

Entourage will mash.

Well then why won’t they play pro? What about Kekoa?

Why is 10 guys a ‘good’ thing? That’s a 25% increase in the team travel budget. Maybe if teams are ‘struggling’ with 8 players they should work on being more athletic. Not to mention PSP has already provided for a 9th reserve player since Phoenix, so the TBD injury “problem” has already been fixed.

If teams don’t want/ can’t afford to bring 10, then they don’t need to. Teams that would like to should have the opportunity.
Face it, we are playing in a fiercely competitive sport and **** happens.
huh? said on November 9, 2009
That’s stupid. That’s like saying, let’s change the number of players on the field at once to 10, and if teams can’t afford to bring 10, then they can play with 8 or 9.
More players on the roster is a competitive advantage. If you raise the limit, then teams need to pay for the extra players to remain competitive.

Not necessarilly. There are still only five being fielded at a time. If the other teams can’t come up with ten players, then those who are on thjeir team can work to be more athletic. Besides, it wouldn’t be too hard to go around the Semi-Pro teams and pick out the ones that you likes to go pro, and if you already have a seven-man team set up, then you can use that one. That’ll even help for the two leagues to possibly coordinate their events with greater efficiency.

There are so many issues with this… I don’t know if it is even worth addressing. But I’ll give it a half-hearted attempt:
There is a difference between not knowing additional players and not being able to afford to bring them. You seemed to blithely miss that.
The two leagues don’t coordinate. And this would do nothing for that. They don’t want to coordinate. They want to fight to the death.

ENTOURAGE will win every semipro event next year should they decide to participate.
Would love SDA to win but it’s not gonna happen if Entourage plays.
Ha said on November 7, 2009
Uhhhh SDA is pro. Entourage is Semi pro. ???????????
??? said on November 7, 2009
you’re an idiot. go back to pbnation. he speaks of SDA2, the semi pro team playing psp.

Is Entourage still shooting shockers? I know a bunch of them are shooting Luxe’s but I got curious since Tadao sponsors them. I don’t believe they have a Luxe board, but it’d be cool–must be for the shockers then?
Fun to watch said on November 9, 2009
It would be fun to watch lack play without full auto.

Aftermath will have a Pro and a D1 team only is what I have heard, some of the old semi-pro plays will move up to pro status and he will get some more new blood fo the D1 squad.
Most of the entourage shoots luxesR. Squires was using a proto type Tadao board at Chicago. The board with the MP3 player. Tadao is …….still waiting on the grips to release the two boards for the luxe. hope this helps. Go to Tadao’s website and you will side in the “news” menu.
