propaintball-iconHaving a fixture for all things West Coast, the USPL is through with Day 1 of competition at the world famous SC Village for their WEST COAST OPEN. The pack is out and in full force, but with a limited number of teams showing up for this event, the results will hopefully reach more people. It’s only Friday, but the jump to the gun from some players has been rushed in their response to this concern and other matters.

The strongest showings of the day were from BLAST, who sit in first, and Dynasty trailing in second by 80 points. Dynasty leads Mutiny and the Bushwackers by 28, who tied for third and fourth. The cut has not been so rigid, with each of the top 4 having dropped at least two games, and others just hanging on. XSV sadly trailed the first bracket of 8 (half of the USPL’s 16 team structure) with only two wins against LEGEND and Impact.

Seeding for tomorrow has Pro games starting around Two O’clock on the Center Court, with the much anticipated Aftermath showing, who’ll be playing Infamous at 2:30. Playing in place of Rage, Aftermath is listed with their Pro’s Margott, Goldman, Pitts and Wake. Infamous, ranked in fourth overall for the season, will prove to be an interesting outing tomorrow for both teams, so check out the game if you’re there.

The true test won’t come until Sunday on whether or not the West Coast Open is a smash hit, with all the components to do so, but still fighting a shit economy. SC Village is a huge landmark in paintball culture, but the question remains as it always has of how potent paintball can be “on it’s own”. This weekend will mark one of the many challenges the sport must face and has always faced. Just keep yr fingers crossed fan boys and tell a friend!
