G.I. Milsim
May 22, 2009 in Industry News
Following on the heels of yesterdays announcement that Richmond Italia was getting back into paintball, we received several comments and emails suggesting that he would not be acting alone in revolutionizing the sport.
We have just learned that Richmond’s new paintball enterprise will be known as “G.I. Milsim”. Based off that juicy nugget of information we went ahead and did a bit of research. The companies official website appears to be located @ www.GIMilsim.com and contains a major piece to the puzzle. Go ahead and check it out for yourselves..
Richmond’s re-entry into paintball is one thing. Rumors that he is going to revolutionize paintball are another. Learning that Richmond has teamed up with the Gardner brothers? Wow.

Mil Sim ? Military Simulation? Wasn’t there something being promoted a few years back where there was a Military Jeep in display? Just fishing here. Who knows.

GI = Soldier? So it would be Soldier Military Simulation? Humm. Sounds like scenario stuff.

i’d say with the Smart Corp Scenario PB team competing in the SPPL’s….that it is definitely a woodsball format,..which is where those guys came from. Should be interesting.

I must have missed the point where the weekend / d4, etc. level player complained about the size of the paintball. Pro-level players will have their equipment provided so it shouldn’t really matter about the caliber of the ball to them. To the average, serious weekend player who owns over $2000 worth of guns and backup guns, this change to a .50 caliber will seriously limit their ability to play.
I just don’t see enough of an upside to change the caliber of the ball.

Why is everyone touting Richmond’s return as the second coming? I have to say 8 years ago, Richmond KILLED paintball as i love it with his X-ball nonsense. Saying paintball is getting back to it’s roots? Please it is just another opportunity for Richmond to stuff his pockets.
