VFTD – Major League Paintball Held Hostage, Palm Beach Vipers, Millenium Series

April 21, 2009 in Millennium, PSP

view-from-the-deadboxIn this weeks Major League Paintball Held Hostage update, View From the Deadbox points out some interesting classification issues with the Ken Bryson’s Palm Beach Vipers. The players in particular are Chris Lasoya, Hamen Chapman, and Matt Pelto.

Also in the update, VFTD notes that WDP, DLX and Regency have joined the millenium as “Gun Sponsors” where as everyone else is both a gun sponsor and a Gold, Platinum or Diamond level sponsor.

Great observations and a few other notes on the Millenium pro teams. Be sure to give it a read @ VFTD.

  1. That was so fast I’m wondering which of us posted first. Thanks, guys.

  2. I like how they point out how Thomas and Rich T have both been playing pro since XSV’s debut in ’04.. nottttt

  3. This is what had to happen since the psp thinks they have to limit pro rosters to 8. The top teams that had all elite players had to let some go, leaving those players allowed to play semi pro if they choose.

  4. The NPPL used to make any player from the prior year who was pro into semi pro at the beginning of the next season. Once you played 1 pro event you were pro for that entire season. HOWEVER, this was because teams were being relegated so you could end up with 3 full teams of pro players wanting to play semi pro if their classifications were not changed at the beginning of each year.

I personally don’t see this being a big problem. It’s nice to have some competition in the Semi pro division as well as the pro division.

  5. Everyone is missing the entire point of the blog Baca Loco posted. He is merely speaking to the inconsistency in the ranking system. I used a few people as an example because they were rostered on one team and the irony was completely apparent (at least for those of us with some intelligence). It was not warranted to list every other player that fits the category of what he was talking about. Although it does nothing but make his case stronger to list them even though most people are using them in an odd defensive manner just like Ken did. I’m glad I do not use the paintball community as a measure of intelligence for the rest of the world. If I did it would be somewhere in the realm of the movie “Idiocracy”.
