The Dogs are currently sitting at the bottom of pro paintball; dead last in the NPPL, and 10th (of 12) in the NXL. With financial problems and a weakening roster, Chris Dazzi has left the Naughty Dogs and will be joining Ron Kilbournes Bushwackers in the upcoming Houston NPPL. This news follows on the heels of last weeks breaking news that included two major departures, Zach Wake going to San Diego Aftermath and Tyler Harmon returning to Oakland BLAST.
Ron Phipps formerly of the XSV dream team is back out on the paintball field after an extended leave. Just in time for NPPL Houston, Phipps is working on getting himself a ticket to Texas. We’ve heard he has a kid on the way so this could be his last hurrah. Perhaps we’ll see him on the roster of SF Design but only time will tell in these coming weekends.
‘Hollywood’ HK has shown a major improvement this season managing to make the podium for the first time since playing as The Edge in 2005. While they have had fierce competition from both Aftermath II and Splat Kids in the first 3 NPPL events, they managed to take 2nd place in HB and 1st in Jacksonville. We’ve received word that two of the star players on the HK roster, Jason ‘Towlie’ Calef & Damian Ryan (former Shock players) are to leave HK in order to take paintball seriously. Trying to seal the deal is Miami Rage who are currently sitting on the cusp of the relegation zone. Word has it that Rage has the funds to make it worth their while and is more than willing to fly them around the country to practice. Although other notable franchises have shown the boys offers, its to be noted that Damian Ryan has a soccer scholarship and can’t miss training sessions during the week back at home. The midwest departure could end up being a major loss to Hollywood HK’s roster and leave some big shoes to fill. Look to see the team on the prowl for a rebound.
